Broadband Hardware

To establish a broadband connection at home or in your office, you will require certain hardware. The exact configuration will depend on the service provider, the type and number of PCs and your operating system.

The minimum hardware components you require to access broadband internet are:

• a desktop computer or laptop
• a broadband modem or router
• an adapter card, if wanting to work wirelessly
• when working from home, one or more microfilters

Routers

You need a modem, or a wired or wireless router to connect your computer to the broadband service.

• Setting up a wireless router

Adapters

Depending on your set up you may also require:

• one or more PC network or wireless cards (internal or external)
